Mary (Wasylicia) Lorenson

It is with great sorrow that that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister Mary, who peacefully passed away in her sleep at the age of 95. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Stella and Nancy; sons Ken (Sharon), Clarence (Linda), Dale (Pirjo), Delmar (Gloria), and Lorne (Velma); a large number of grandchildren, great-, and great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Paul and Anna; brothers Bill, Fred, Peter, Stanley, John, Nick, Paul, Steve, Joe, and Max; sister Elsie; sons Lloyd, Keith, Harvey, and Raymond; and her beloved husband, Ralph.

Mary was born in Myrnam where she lived until she married Ralph Lorenson on October 23, 1937. She had always been a hard working woman, and she proved this as she raised nine boys and helped run a farm near Clive, never allowing her family to go hungry. When the time came for grandchildren to visit the farm, there was never a tummy growling or a frown on a face, as she showered them with affection and life lessons. Upon Ralph's retirement, the couple moved into Lacombe, where she remained until 2015.

Mary will be remembered for her enduring kindness, infectious laughter, love of games, and her hospitality: there was always an open door to her home and massive feasts lavished upon those fortunate enough to sit at her table.

A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of  Points West Living in Stettler for their care and attention to Mary for the past year.
