Welcome to the memorial page for

Francis Edward Gough

August 8, 1946 ~ March 10, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Francis Gough, affectionately known as Joey, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2017 at his residence in Wetaskiwin, AB.
Joey was born August 8th, 1946 in St. Albans, England to Harold and June Gough.
Joey came to Canada as an infant and lived with his grandfather, Vivian in Midnapore, Alberta until he was placed in Michener Centre in 1952.  In 1982, Joey moved to a ranch for the deaf in Westlock, Alberta where he resided until 1984.  He then moved back to Michener Centre and lived there until 1992, at which time he moved to Youngstown, (a branch of Michener Centre).  In March 1993, Joey moved to Wetaskiwin with Catholic Social Services where he lived until his passing.

Joey enjoyed the outdoors, dining out, going to Church, writing in his journal, movies, games and crafts. Although Joey was deaf and unable to speak, he was able to communicate through his actions, gestures, and the use of sign language. Joey also enjoyed attending Horizons Center in past years. Joey would visit his grandfather’s grave monthly when the weather permitted. This was very important to Joey as he was very close to his grandfather.

Joey will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

A funeral service will be held at Baker Funeral Chapel in Wetaskiwin, AB on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
