Deanna Astner

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing on June 7, 2016 of Deanna, a cherished wife, a loving mother, a beloved grandmother and a loyal friend to all who experienced her kind heart and generous spirit, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Her spirit and memory live on in her family: her loving husband of 53 years, Harley; son, Kevin (Tammy); daughter, Kim (Brace) Klein; grandchildren, Teesha Klein (Brad), Shelby (Tyson) Myers, Jacob Astner and Hanna Astner; sister, Dorothy (Gerald) Burghardt; sister-in-law, Carole (Andy) Lee; brothers-in-law, John Novotny and Murray Stauffer as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Deanna was predeceased by her parents, Milton and Beatrice Doupe; sister, Marjorie Stauffer; mother and father in-law, Julius and Esther Astner and sister-in-law, Shirley Novotny.
Deanna was a major contributor to the community, always volunteering her time to various clubs and activities.  Her favourite being the Helping Hand Club where she was active from 1964 until present.  Deanna also enjoyed helping compile the history for the Gwynne History Book which was printed in 1977.  She had a huge heart and her family meant everything to her.  You never had to ask for a hand because she was always there!
A special thank you to Dr. Schlenther, Dr. de Wet, the nurses on Unit 32 and Unit 35 Palliative Care Facility for the phenomenal care and comfort that was provided to Deanna, as well as the Ebenezer Baptist Church family for their constant support and prayers.
