Yvonne Elizabeth (Whitten) Jones

It is with great sadness and much love that we announce Yvonne Jones passed away peacefully on October 21, 2020 at the age of 95 years surrounded by family. She will be missed but remembered and treasured by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in 2006 and leaves behind her children; Ron, Carleen (Bob), Bill (JoAnn), and Lori (Laurie); her grandchildren Karen (Nathan), Colin, Justine (Geoff), and Alyssa; and great grandchildren Finn and Owen.

Yvonne was born on the family farm in the chain lakes area and spent all her life in Ponoka.  She met Bill Jones while working at the Alberta Hospital in Ponoka and after marriage she was a homemaker and raised four children.  Yvonne and Bill loved to travel, which included Australia, England, Wales, Hawaii, and wintered in Arizona for many years.  Yvonne had many hobbies over the years. She loved art and was a very skilled painter, aqua aerobics, crossword puzzles, reading and in her younger years she enjoyed bowling and sewing.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Royal Canadian Legion for over 65 years, and also canvassed yearly for numerous causes like Heart and Stroke Foundation and Diabetes Canada.

She spent the last 18 months of her life residing at Northcott Care Centre. We want to thank the staff for their love and excellent care of our mom.

Due to the current Government restrictions surrounding public gatherings, a private family gathering will be held. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to Northcott Care Centre or any charity of your choice.
