Wally Quapp went to be with his Lord and Saviour September 12, 2020, at the age of 85. He was born April 10, 1935, in Coaldale, Alberta to Jacob and Maria Quapp. His siblings are Hilda and John Heidebrecht (both predeceased), Wilma and Jim Sturgeon, Edward (predeceased) and Mary Quapp, Marie and Ernie Wiens, Martha and Leroy Wiens, and Sue and Scott (predeceased) Black. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Wally grew up on a farm in Coaldale and accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour at the age of 16. After High School, he went to Bethany Bible College in Saskatchewan where he graduated with a degree in Religious Studies. He then moved to Calgary to take Heavy Duty Electrical Power training at SAIT. Wally worked with Calgary Power and the City of Calgary Electric System. While he was in Calgary, he met his wife Constance nee Falconer (Connie). They were married in Calgary on June 13, 1964, and had five children: David (Diane and children Maria and Kristina), Laureen Witzke (Garth and children Vivian and Doane Jensen, Susan, Melanie and Jacob), Colleen Waldherr (Brian and children Kevin, Amanda and Bradley), Leroy (Shannon and children Gwendolyn, Nathaniel, Naomi and Liam) and Gordon (Narissa and children Aubree, Rebekah, Jacob, Emelie-Grace, Natellie-Rose, and Jesse).
In 1996, Wally and Connie retired fulltime to the farm outside of Bashaw where they continued to enjoy mixed farming. In 2018, Wally was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer for which he had surgery and continued to enjoy life. In early 2020, the cancer returned, but he continued on with the strength of his Lord until September 12 when his Lord called him Home.
A Private Service will be held at the Erskine Evangelical Free Church at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020. Live-stream is available by clicking on the video link below.
