Wayne Vern Thompson

Wayne Thompson, of Ponoka, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, March 28, 2025.

Wayne is survived by his two children Craig Thompson and Christine Swift (Dan Thayer); his grandson Eli Swift; his siblings Larry Thompson (Ski), Valerie Dillen (Will), Cathy Hansen, Ryan Thompson (Ayla); his sisters-in-law Joann Swarbrick (Calvin), Laurie Whitecotton (Marty), Sandra Crooker, Denise Watson (Tyrone) and Danita Hunt (Don); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Wayne was predeceased by his high school Sweetheart and wife Cathy Thompson (Crooker); his mother Marie Thompson; his father Vern Thompson; mother-in-law Joyce Baird; and his brothers David Thompson and Kevin Thompson. 

A sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre for their compassionate care of Wayne.

His love for golf and the great outdoors brought so much joy to those around him. Let’s honor his memory at the golf course he cherished.

Please join us as we celebrate the life of Wayne Thompson at 1:00 p.m. at the Ponoka Golf Course: Upper Banquet Room on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

We will share stories, laughter, and love as we remember Wayne in the place that meant so much to him. Whether you bring a favorite memory, wear your golf attire in his honor, or simply join us in spirit, your presence will mean the world.

Light refreshments will be served.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating cash which will be gifted to Ponoka Community Golf Course, for course enhancement/beautification.  If it were up to Wayne, he would want more sand!
