Wayne Murray McKenna passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 2, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on September 23, 1947, in Parry Sound, Ontario, Wayne moved west early in life, spending his early working years on the British Columbia coast before later working in the city. His journey eventually brought him to Alberta.
A highly regarded and decorated junior hockey player in his youth, Wayne carried his passion for the game, competitive spirit, and strong sense of teamwork throughout his life as he continued to play the game until his adult life.
Wayne lived in Vancouver and Castlegar, British Columbia; Stettler, Alberta; and finally Ponoka, Alberta. Wherever he went, he was known for his friendly nature, quick wit, and ability to connect with everyone he met. Always joking and full of life, Wayne was truly the life of the party and a friend to all.
Predeceased by his beloved wife in 2014, Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his family.
In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, there will be no service. Those who knew him are invited to remember him in their own way.
