It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter (Wally) Douglas Hagerman. Wally passed away peacefully Sunday March 22nd, 2026 surrounded and supported by his loved ones, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
Wally was born July 20th, 1945 to his parents Harold and Pauline Hagerman in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Wally lived most of his life in and around the Wetaskiwin area with his beloved wife Glenda where they raised 5 children, later welcoming many grand and great-grandchildren into their home and hearts.
He started his family with Glenda while living in Edmonton, Alberta. This time was marked by his love of hunting and providing for his family, along with other hobbies. They moved out to the acreage in Pipestone, where he was honored to be a stay a home Dad to their youngest - twins. In 2002, Wally and Glenda moved to Wetaskiwin, where they became home owners. Wally spent many hours tinkering outside in the shed, building or repairing this or that. His hand crafted bird houses and hand carved walking sticks will be some of many treasured items. He enjoyed camping, fishing and the simplicity of sitting by a fire in the backyard, always made better by the company of family and his beloved dog Ellie.
Wally is remembered for his goofy sense of humor and the undeniable love he had for his family.
Although much of his life was here in Alberta, his roots and a piece of his heart always remained in Nova Scotia. He always dreamed of returning home one more time.
Wally is survived by his wife, Glenda; sons, Scott and Danny; daughters, Heather and Deanna; brothers, Richard and Eddie, his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Pauline Hagerman; sisters, Phyllis and Brenda; nephews, David and Eddie; son, Robert and grandson, Elliott.
Wally will be greatly and forever missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him.
A service or celebration of life will be held at a later date.
