Susan Fell Obituary

Susan Ann Fell, 64, passed away on March 11, 2023 after a short battle with lung cancer, surrounded by her family and friends.

Suzie - as her friends nicknamed her, had a chaotic childhood. She left school after grade 9, and married Larry Bitner. Her first child, Kim, was born shortly after. This relationship only lasted about nine months.

Roger Fell had been in the background for sometime. He moved in with her and started a relationship that would last forty eight years. Joshua was born, and shortly after they married. After both kids were in school, Suzie enrolled at Lakeland College, Vegreville, for a two year academic upgrading course. Sue graduated top of her class! Unable to find employment with her new credentials, Sue re-enrolled in Lakeland College for an Office Administration diploma. Again, she excelled! This led eventually to a position at the County of Minburn equipment maintenance shop where she computerized their inventory and parts system. Other odd activities also came, traveling out to assist in blowing beaver dams as well as other unusual tasks.

Six years, times change and a move to Edmonton.  A trip to Australia (seven weeks) - it was our first international trip. Sue had a picture of Ayers Rock in her office at the County and now she actually got to touch it! Back to work, after a few temp positions, a job at Canadian Blood Services in IT. After three years, the job became too much, combined with a back injury that later led to surgery. A few more temp positions led to a position with the City of Edmonton Waste Management where she stayed until her retirement at 57.

Sue had the travel bug, many trips to the Big Island of Hawaii, a few to Maui, and Mexico twice. 2017: a trip to Douglas, Wyoming for the total solar eclipse, and later that winter, a tour of the American Southwest. Zion, Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns and many more spots of beauty. Sue will be remembered for her positive outlook, always up for the next adventure.

Suzie is survived by her loving husband Roger, daughter Kim, son Joshua, and his wife Kerri, grandson Zachary, sister Karen and husband Roman, brother Peter, niece Melonie, nephew Roman Jr., nephew Benjamin, and her dear friends.

Any donations in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated by Medi-Lend Wetaskiwin, who were a great help during our difficult time.

A private ceremonial farewell will be held for Susan at a later date.
