Sherrill Allison Drake
1949 - 2026
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherrill Allison Drake. Sherrill left us too soon on May 28, 2026.
Born on August 4, 1949, in Edmonton, Alberta, Sherrill lived a full and meaningful life.
She leaves behind her sister, Glenys; her brother, Dan (Corey); her nephews, Matthew (Rayanne), Erik (Jordan), and Christian (Ashlynn); her nieces, Whitney, Lindsay, Jamie, and Katelyn; as well as her beloved great-nephews, George, Karl, Walker, and Lawson, and her great-niece, Charlotte. She will also be missed by a large circle of friends, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sherrill was predeceased by her brother, Bob (1985); her mother, Dulcie (1997); her father, Bill (2001); and her brother-in-law, George (2024).
Sherrill proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1967 to 1970, spending time in Bermuda, Germany, and Ontario. Following her military service and work abroad, she lived in Ontario before returning to Alberta, where she and her business partner, Gary, founded D&G Distributors in Wetaskiwin in 1993. They operated the business together until her retirement.
She loved the sun, spending summers at the lake with friends, and playing a game of cards with anyone she could convince to join her.
Above all, family meant the most to Sherrill. As the family historian, she spent countless hours documenting family history, researching information, and organizing photographs. A devoted aunt, she found the greatest joy in spending time with her nephews and nieces and those she loved.
Sherrill passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose, with family by her side.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and caregivers who provided excellent care and support to Sherrill in her final years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wetaskiwin Seniors Centre (5216–54 Street, Wetaskiwin, AB), on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
