Sheena "Bern" Bernette (Mitchelmore) Hankinson

Sheena Bernette “Bern” Hankinson passed away on June 20, 2020 at the age of 64 years after a
difficult struggle with cancer. She was born on September 2, 1955 at Green Island Cove,
Newfoundland, the youngest of four children. Bern graduated from the Western Memorial
Hospital school of nursing in Corner Brook in 1976 and attended her class reunion in 2016. She
continued her education throughout her nursing career, obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing Degree
with distinction, as well as several other specialist certifications. Since retirement in 2013, Bern
traveled widely and spent a couple of months in Phoenix each year. She also became an avid
golfer and found new and imaginative ways to expand her already impressive vocabulary on the
course.

Bern is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert J. Hankinson; children, Richard (Brittany)
Hankinson, and Heather Hankinson; brother, Bryon (Emma) Mitchelmore; as well as numerous
nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Lavinia Mitchelmore;
brother, Windsor (Virtue) Mitchelmore; sister, Rowena Joseph.

Bern was a proud mother, nurse
and Newfoundlander and will be sorely missed by her family, friends and colleagues.

Cremation
has taken place and a private celebration of Bern’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of
flowers donations can be made to the charity of ones choice.
