Ruby (Wiens) Hutchings

December 8, 1930 - June 21, 2025

Ruby was born on December 8, 1930, in Borden, Saskatchewan, to Aaron and Annie Wiens. She passed away peacefully in the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Center on June 21, 2025, surrounded by all of her children, and was welcomed into the open arms of her Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Ruby leaves behind a cherished legacy through her five children, Darlene (Jim) Nickel, Bill (Deb) Hutchings, Deb (Jack) Vanderhoef, Boyd (Shirley) Hutchings and Diane (Carlos) Cruz, as well as 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim, and her three siblings, Ed, Anne and Elmer.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Christoff De Wet, Dr. Gunther Schlenther and Dr. Stiaan Van Der Walt, for their amazing care over the years and in her last days. A special thanks goes to all the staff in Units 35 and 43 at the Wetaskiwin Hospital, and to everyone at the Good Shepherd home for all their kind and compassionate care, and for making Ruby’s last years so special.
