It is with great sadness we announce that Roy Fairclough peacefully entered into rest on March 20, 2026 in Ponoka, Alberta at 81 years of age.
Roy was born in Michel, British Columbia on January 18, 1945 to parents Frank and Anna Fairclough. He shared stories of the many careers he had throughout his life including coal mining, working at Canada Packers, becoming an instrumentation technician, and being the maintenance coordinator at St. Augustine Church after retirement. He was well known for his sense of humour and for his many years of service with the St. Augustine Parish community in Ponoka. He volunteered regularly with the Knights of Columbus and many would see him driving the tractor shuttle at the Ponoka Stampede.
He was predeceased by his brother Gordon; his parents Frank and Anna; and sons-in-law Cliff and Troy.
Roy is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lydia; his daughters Tracy (Troy), Cindy (Cliff), Kari, and Ashley (James); 9 grandchildren; 6 nieces and 10 nephews; and many extended family members.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by family, friends, and members of the community.
A Funeral Mass for Roy will take place Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church (5113 52 Ave, Ponoka, AB T4J 1H6).
