Roscoe Grant Obituary

"In life we loved you dearly. In death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one else will ever fill." - Unknown

In his room at the Wetaskiwin Long Term Care on March 5, 2025, in Roscoe's 104th year, the last good-bye was said.

Born the third child to Manfred and Martha Grant on February 17, 1921 at the old historic Wetaskiwin Hospital located on 47 Street, he joined an older brother Vernon and older sister Margie. Younger brother Robert arrived a few years later.

Left to mourn are his three children from two marriages; twins, Gerald and Sharon, and youngest son, Neil (Karen), seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

Roscoe was predeceased by his parents, Manfred and Martha; siblings, Vernon, Margie (Grant) Henderson, and Robert; loving wife, Shirley, son-in- law, Roger Morrow and daughter-in-law, Averil Grant.

Roscoe worked a handful of off farm jobs during his younger years, before returning home to farm full-time. Once back at home, Roscoe pursued many passions such as singing and community involvement through numerous boards, associations and community halls. Further to farming, Roscoe always put his time in with fixing machinery, tending cattle, doing chores, hilling potatoes, and picking garden peas.

Roscoe lived a long, healthy, full life, filled many days with hard work, love of things he liked to do, enjoying the good times and he was lucky enough to be surrounded by family and friends throughout all of it.

A Memorial Service for Roscoe will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church (4910 Northmount Drive, Wetaskiwin).

Our family would like to extend a most sincere gratitude of excellence to ALL staff of the Wetaskiwin Long Term Care. Their timely caring and smiling faces deserve utmost recognition.

Roscoe donated blood for many years, and the family asks that any financial donations be sent to Canadian Blood Services (1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, K1G 4J5), or you may consider donating blood in his memory.
