Rosamond Christine Hank passed away on the 7th of November, 2021.
Ros, as we lovingly referred to her, was from Abercarn, South Wales Valleys. She was one of two children born to Phyllis and Kenneth Esau. As a young child, Ros loved nothing more than dressing up and performing. She studied both tap and ballet and enjoyed performing in many pantomimes for which she donned costumes lovingly made by her mother.
Despite the pull of the stage, Ros found her calling and trained to become a Psychiatric Nurse from 1968-1980 in Swansea and eventually earned a degree in 1992. She worked with the NHS in the UK and then at The Centennial Centre in Ponoka until she retired in 2010.
Ros travelled widely across the UK, Australia and Canada and developed friendships wherever she went.
She possessed a sharp tongue and an even sharper wit. She had a keen interest in politics and sports and loved the ‘The Blue Jays’.
You would seldom find Ros without her loyal canine companions, PJ (rest his soul) and Max.
Even though Ros did not have children of her own, she remained close to and is survived by her niece Helen, her nephew Stephen, as well as her great-niece Mali. And, despite the physical distance between them, Ros kept in close touch with her brother Alan who lives in South Wales. She was predeceased by her parents.
Ros will be sadly missed by her close friends in Ponoka.
Donations may be made to:
Ponoka Veterinary Clinic or the SPCA in Red Deer
There will be no formal funeral service.
