Ron, known as “Tuffy” in his younger years, was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan and grew up in the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain area. He married, had two children, and worked for Lilydale Farms for several years until he moved his family to Ponoka in 1972. He worked alongside his brother for MAKLOC Metal Buildings before establishing his own metal building contract business, KELRON Holdings Ltd. After many prosperous years of contracting, Ron went to work for ALMAC until his retirement in 2021.
Ron was a quiet man but busy with his outdoor adventures - hunting, fishing, and rigging something up with all his home and build projects. Quality time with his family and grandchildren in all of their life events was important to Ron.
Ron is survived by his daughter Kim (Brian), grandchildren Matthew, Sarah-Rae, and Taylor, extended family Tara and Jaimie (Coleton), and great-grandchildren Brierlynn, Thomas, Emma-Grace, and Alexander; and his son Kelly (Kim), grandchildren Brandon (Mckayla), Dustin (Payton), and Jaycee, extended family Shanelle and L.J., and great-grandson Daxton. Ron also leaves behind his siblings Larry (Wendy) and family, Ken (Bev) and family, Wayne (Bonnie) and family, Harvey (Janice) and family, Delores (Ed) and family, and Glen (Martine) and family.
Ron was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Freda.
Ron easily met and befriended many people through his years. He enjoyed stories and jokes and could not wait to share them with his family. He will be dearly and sadly missed.
A Private Funeral Service is being held to celebrate Ron’s life.
Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Ponoka Fish & Game Association.
