Ronald Heintz Obituary

Ronald Arthur Heintz was born on October 31, 1947 in Major, Saskatchewan and passed away suddenly on February 17, 2020 at the age 72 years in Ponoka, Alberta.

Ron was an only child, born to George and Clara Heintz (nee Haakinson) and grew up on their family farm in the Chain Lakes area.

Ron attended Mecca Glenn school until 1965, at which time he began his career in the Alberta oilfield. He worked for various drilling companies but spent most of his time working as a Driller for Jennings Drilling.  In 1970, he left the drilling division and began working for Import Tool Company and eventually became their Operations Manager. With the downturn in the oilfield, Ron purchased half of Action Auto Parts in Camrose and eventually became the sole owner.

In 2007,  Ron sold Action Auto Parts and later retired to Ponoka to be closer to his parents.  Ron and his long time companion, Shirley, took pride in their beautiful yard in the summer and the colourful display of Christmas lights in the winter.

Ron looked forward to sharing special times with his son, Kirby, watching their favourite team (the Oilers) and going out for dinner and taking in a  movie together. He liked the outdoors and enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. Ron looked forward to having coffee with his buddies in town and coming up with “quick fix” ideas to solve world issues.

Ron leaves to mourn his loving companion, Shirley Power (son, Sean) and his dedicated son, Kirby Heintz, along with many friends and extended family members.

At Ron’s request and to respect his wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. His ashes will be laid to rest alongside his parents, George and Clara Heintz and his eldest son Darin, who predeceased him in 2000.
