Robert Elmer Odenbach, 70 years of age, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre with family by his side.
Rob was born on December 10, 1954 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to his mother Laura Odenbach. He was the eldest of five children and grew up surrounded by family and responsibility early in life. He is survived by his siblings: Susan Rizzio (Rioh), Valerie Engel (Colin), Tim Odenbach (Debbie), and Denise Heringer. Rob was predeceased by his mother Laura Odenbach; and his brother-in-law and close friend, Doug Lambert.
Rob will be deeply missed by his children: Robert Odenbach Jr. (Adrianna), Crissy Odenbach, Ben Caskey (Pam), and Amanda Isaac (Ryan). His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren Paige Isaac, Elise Isaac, Dominic Odenbach, Dylan Odenbach, and Lilly Odenbach.
Rob was lovingly married to his wife, Rita Odenbach, for thirty-three years. It’s no April Fools that this year would have marked thirty-four years of marriage - a partnership built on loyalty, mutual respect, and the kind of teasing that only someone who knew him well could appreciate. While Rob had a tough exterior, Rita was one of the few who could bring out his softer side.
Rob dedicated much of his life to his career in the trucking industry, hauling everything from oilfield equipment to vehicles, travelling from the Arctic borders to the edges of the United States. He took pride in his work and loved the open road.
Rob was an avid follower of current events and politics, always ready for a good conversation on the latest headlines. You could always count on Rob to know the most random and fascinating facts. Whether learning something new from a documentary, a YouTube video, or a good program on TV, Rob was always curious about the world around him.
Rob enjoyed getting out in nature, whether taking the quad for a ride or camping in the bush to escape the busy pace of life. One of his favourite getaways was Las Vegas, where he enjoyed hearing the familiar clang of the slot machines and soaking in the vibrant energy of the city.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and the kind of playful teasing that made life just a little more interesting. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Private Family Service is being held in Rob’s honour and memory.
