Bob Mieske, of Ma-Me-O Beach, Alberta passed away surrounded by family and friends on April 30, 2025, after a brief illness.
He was born on December 24, 1950 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
Bob is survived by his spouse and best friend of almost 60 years, Bonny Mieske (nee Dingman), and his two children Kerri Johnston (Scott Johnston) and Christopher Mieske (Kelly Mieske), and four grandchildren, Hale Johnston, Nicholas Johnston, Lilly Mieske and Kai Mieske.
Bob was predeceased by his sister, Judi McCoy; his mother Anne Mieske, and his father Rupert (Mickey) Mieske.
Bob grew up in the greenhouse and flower shop, Mickey’s Flowers, in Wetaskiwin, and developed a green thumb at an early age. He completed his post-secondary education in Horticulture at Olds College, and had a long career in the horticulture industry in both Alberta and Ontario. Bob also had a passion and talent for cooking, golfing, camping, home-building, reading, and traveling, having traveled across North America, Central and South America, and Europe. He was also deeply generous with his time and knowledge, always ready to share what he knew and lend a helping hand to anyone in his community. Bob and Bonny’s yard, garden, and trees are well-known to be the greenest on their street, a sanctuary for visiting family, neighbors, birds, squirrels, butterflies, bees, a fox, and even visiting horses on occasion.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 at the Ma-Me-O Beach Hall.
As you know, Bob loved all things green, so flowers are welcome, or perhaps plant a tree in Bob’s memory.
