Peter Wiebe was born in Rosengart Campo 7B, Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico on June 6, 1938 to parents, Franz Wiebe Loewen and Anna Froese Rempel. He grew up in a typical Mennonite family with nine siblings. Peter married Elizabeth Wiebe on March 26, 1961 and was blessed with six children. He was a farmer who loved working the land and tending to his dairy cattle which sustained them for many years. Eventually Canada became his home but had many trips to Mexico, his beloved homeland. Through faith and grace he received salvation and assured us he was a child of God up to his death on May 27, 2025 at the age of 86 years.

Peter is fondly remembered by his children, Franz (Tina), Henrich (Susie), Greta (Kevin Schmidt), Jacob, Aggie (Mike Schmidt); sixteen grandchildren, Rafael, Michael (Marisela), Dalon (America), Jaydon, Ariel, Avery, Tony (Abbygail), Ashley (Luke Sonnenberg), Tyler, Tanya (Tanner Chappell), Austin, Jackie, Kaylee, Keagan, Danny and Kevin; six great-grandchildren, and siblings, Anna, Maria, Johan, Elizabeth, Neta and Franz. Peter was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth; son, John; brother, Jacob; and sisters, Tina and Susie.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the incredible caring staff at Sagebrush Senior Living Community and the Wetaskiwin Hospital. These health care workers were very compassionate, and made Peter’s last days peaceful.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the 52 Street Church of God (4114 52 Street, Wetaskiwin) with interment to follow at the Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery.
