Patricia Susan (MacTavish) Menzies

Patricia Susan Menzies (MacTavish) passed away in Ponoka, Alberta on March 2, 2021. 

Pat was born in Ponoka on October 27, 1953 to Stan and Alice MacTavish.  She was raised in the Homeglen district with her three sisters, until she moved to Edmonton after high school.

There she met Reg Menzies and the two were married in 1978.  Reg brought with him a daughter, Brenda, who spent many holidays and summers with them.

They lived briefly in Denver, Colorado where Pat got her pilot’s license.  Upon returning from Colorado, they eventually settled on the farm back in Homeglen.

In her spare time Pat enjoyed making ceramics and crocheting.  She could always be found taking care of the many different animals on their funny farm, but her true passion was spending time with her family.  Her love for children quickly earned her the title of “Aunty” to everyone who met her.  Pat was known to many as the “Watkins Lady” at farmers markets throughout central Alberta.

Pat was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Reg Menzies; brother-in-law Roy Mathison; and nephew Travis Untinen.

She is survived by her sisters Lavina (Brian), Beryl, and Bonnie (Stan); step-daughter Brenda (Ken); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family gathering will be held.
