Norma Genevieve (Orsten) Grant passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the age of 89.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Elgin; her children Barry (Sandy), Scott (Cheryl), and Kari; her grandchildren Ryan (Brinley) Grant, Nicholas (Stephanie) Grant, Megan (Antonie) Gendron, and Makena (Kellyn) Pritchard; three great-grandchildren Beckham, Miles and Ophelia; by Sulley; as well as her sister-in-law Esther Orsten, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Norma was born to Trygve and Hansine Orsten on December 21, 1935 in Big Valley, Alberta. She grow up in Southern Alberta and moved to Camrose then to Edmonton. She became an RN at the Royal Alexander Hospital in 1957. She met and married Elgin Grant in 1959. As a family they moved to Sherwood Park, Calgary, Peace River and settled in Ponoka in 1974. Norma spent much of her time watching and supporting her children. She also enjoyed anything fitness related, she enjoyed golfing, curling, bowling, aerobics of any kind, she especially enjoyed a good, fast walk. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren making them thin pancakes and singing to them. Spending time with family was what she enjoyed most, singing around the campfire, camping, going to Disneyland, or just having everyone over for a bar-b-que. She enjoyed doing all sorts of crafts including sewing, crochet and knitting. She also enjoyed a good shopping trip with Kari. She enjoyed the special bond with their neighbours and the time spent with the Chases in Fairmont.
She was predeceased by her sisters Betty, Thelma, Shirley, and Helen; and her brother Tobey.
A private service is being held on December 30, 2024
