Annette (Nettie) Feitsma – née Bakker went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on December 5, 2025 at the blessed age of 97. She was born in Oldehove, the Netherlands on February 2, 1928. She was one of two sets of twins in their family with five sisters and two brothers. She was the youngest of the family.
On March 19, 1953 she married DS (Douwe Simon) Feitsma. Shortly thereafter they immigrated to Canada. After one year they returned to their homeland and were blessed with four sons and two daughters. The sons had a desire to farm so the family decided to move back to Canada in 1977. They settled north of Ponoka, Alberta.
They were married for 70 years, then the Lord called DS home on November 29, 2023. During their marriage they were blessed with 22 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, whom they loved dearly. They were very involved in the lives of their children and their families.
Nettie was a very loving and caring person with a servant heart to all those who entered her home. Her life was a living example of Christ’s love.
She is survived by their 4 sons: Hijlko & Hillie, Wridzer & Bertha, Johan & May, and Siemon & Irene; their two daughters Theresa & Riemer Prins and Martha & Johannes Otten; and their families.
She was predeceased by all her siblings and in-laws:
Annie Bakker
Mennie and Cor Veenkamp - Bakker
Klaas and Willie Bakker
Tine and Gerard Wieringa - Bakker
Jan and Nettie Bakker
Truus and Henk Feijen - Bakker
Martha and Geale Meindertsma - Bakker
A Funeral Service will be held at the Parkland United Reformed Church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
