It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Nadia, a devoted mother, grandmother and wife who passed away on July 16, 2025 at the age of 74.
Born on August 26, 1950 in Montreal, Quebec, Nadia was a woman whose life was defined by her unwavering commitment to her family. Above all, she cherished being a mother and grandmother. Her love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and she dedicated every moment to ensuring their happiness and well-being. Her devotion to them was the greatest gift she gave, and it was returned in kind by the deep love they have for her.
Nadia was a master in the kitchen, and her meals were more than just food, they were expressions of her love. Family gatherings were never complete without her signature dishes or her new recipe discoveries. Whether it was a holiday feast or a simple weekend dinner, she poured her heart into every meal, and her family will forever remember the warmth and comfort that came from gathering around her table. Her ability to make any meal feel like a celebration of family is something we will carry with us always.
Her thoughtfulness extended beyond the kitchen. Nadia had an extraordinary gift for finding the perfect presents for every occasion. She was always on the search of the ideal gift for her loved ones, the one that would bring the biggest smile or warm the heart. Her thoughtful gestures were a reflection of care and attention she gave to everyone in her life, ensuring that each person felt cherished and appreciated.
Though we are heartbroken by her loss, we take comfort in the memories of the countless family gatherings, the delicious meals shared, the thoughtful gifts exchanged, and the endless love she gave so freely. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of being a part of her life.
Nadia is survived by her children, Andrew Sjwed (Tina) and Tanya Sjwed; her cherished grandchildren, Talia Sjwed, Aiden Sjwed and Nadine Cianfrini; loving brother, Danny Bittner and numerous other family and friends, all of whom were blessed by her presence. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Sjwed; mother and father Oksana and Michal Bittner.
Her family would like to thank her oncology team at the Cross Cancer Institute, home care aides and palliative care staff at the Wetaskiwin Hospital. Your care and support meant the world to her and her family.
It was Nadia’s wishes to have a small private ceremony surrounded by her close family she loved so much.
While we will miss her warm smile, her delicious meals and thoughtful ways, we take comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide and sustain us.
Rest in peace Nadia. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
