Michael Andrew Friesen

Michael Andrew Friesen, known to many as Mike, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on September 30, 2025, at the age of 66 years.

Born on September 8, 1959, in Lacombe, Alberta, Mike was the son of George and Margaret Friesen and brother to Ron (Gloria), Darcy (Denise), Patricia (Blair), and the late Steven.

Mike was a gifted mechanic who could fix almost anything and had a lifelong passion for cars—buying them, restoring them, and keeping them running. He also had an ear for music and a love of a finely tuned stereo, and he could often be found reading or researching new ideas just for the joy of learning.

Faith was a cornerstone of Mike’s life. He was active in his church communities, most recently the First Baptist Church in Ponoka, and was a long-time participant in a Men’s Breakfast Bible Study, where he found fellowship and encouragement.

In recent years, Mike was surrounded by a devoted circle of friends who shared deep conversations, looked after him, laughed with him, challenged him, and, most importantly to Mike, fed him. To Don Wierenga and Colleen MacLean, Greg and Alexis Bayley, Jim and Kelly Cole, Larry and Denise Neufeld, Neale and Margaret Ronald, Bernie Bartko, Dave Friesen, Mark Deutscher and others, the family is deeply grateful for your care and companionship.

Mike is survived by his parents, George and Margaret, his siblings Ron, Darcy, and Patricia, his children Dale (Rachel), Kelsey, and Shawn, and their mother, Beverley.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Clive Baptist Church, with light refreshments to follow.

Mike will be remembered for his curiosity, his wit, his faith, and the many ways he connected with the people around him.
