It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Melvin Lee Jones at the age of 89 on January 21, 2026 (same day his mother, Annie Jones passed 21 years ago) at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre.
He was deeply loved by all who knew him. Melvin is survived by his wife Patsy; daughters Charlene (Peter) Oakes and Sandra (Dan) Teed; granddaughter Rachel Oakes; great-grandsons Bowen & Zayden Senio; his sister Marlene Pritchard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Melvin was predeceased by Rachel’s partner Reid Senio; his sister-in-law Barbara Uhl; his brother-in-laws Evion Pritchard, Norman Smith, and Robert Smith; and his parents Leroy & Annie Jones.
Born in Ponoka, Melvin lived his life farming east of Ponoka then retired from farming and moved into town. There are many fond memories of Melvin and his sense of humor, always joking around to get a chuckle out of someone. He was a doting grandfather and a very proud great-grandfather to his two great-grandsons. His kind and gentle soul was respected by all and he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations gratefully appreciated and accepted by The Lending Cupboard, Red Deer (www.lendingcupboard.ca) or any charity of your choice.
