It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Martha “Nita” Lange at the age of 92 years. Nita is survived by her daughter, Erica (David) Wilkie; grandsons, Steven (Wendy) Forth, Jason (Jody) Forth, Clayton Forth; great-granddaughters, Emily and Shaelyn Forth. Nita was predeceased by her parents, John and Hilda Kruk; husband, Eric Lange; brother, Vern Kruk; daughter, Charmaine Forth.
Nita learned about strength against adversity and hard work, early in life, as she and her family fled from Germany to Canada during WW2. They landed in Montreal and travelled by train to Edmonton where they finally settled.
Nita was later married to Eric from Wetaskiwin county, where the two of them homesteaded and raised their daughters. Nita was a city girl, but easily transitioned into country life with all of it’s trials and rewards alike.
After the farm was sold, Eric and Nita spent many years doing property maintenance and housekeeping in Wetaskiwin. Family was always the top priority for them, along with gardening and looking after their own home.
After Eric passed away, Nita moved out to an acreage on her own, living there and maintaining it for over 20 years, until her passing. She also spent many of these years working at the Wetaskiwin Youth Centre looking after children, cooking and fundraising.
Nita always made the best of what she had, and was a strong, caring soul that will be missed by all. We know that she will be overjoyed to be reunited with the family members that have gone on before her.
