Marilyn Beattie Obituary

It is with great sadness and grief in our hearts, that we mourn the loss of Marilyn Ester Beattie.

Her love and memory will be cherished by her children, Dale (Dianna), Carrie Ann (Leroy), Brian (Marlian); granddaughters, Zoe` Jamie-Lynn, Addison; and grandsons, Ryan and Owen.

Also grieving her loss are her best friends and sisters extraordinaire, Gloria and Gail. For many years they advocated on her behalf, managed her care, ensured her well-being and loved her through life's most profound challenges. Their commitment, sacrifices, love and dedication will for ever be honoured by Marilyn and her children.

Shout out to Chad who doted on Auntie Marilyn, and shared a super special bond with her especially through their love of sports. As well as Aspen's unconditional love and care that she shared so generously.

Marilyn had an angelic energy. She was kind, accepting and had a calm stability that brought ease to those around her. She went above and beyond to help those who were in need. Her gentle and easy nature drew people in, as she was empathic and found great pleasure in getting to know people on a deeper level. Her love for people served her well in solidifying solid relationships and her compassion for others was evident in her career as a Home Care Nurse Practitioner.

Another one of her charming attributes was her off the cuff sense of humor. Despite her innocent demeanor, she could come up with some real zingers that we will continue to laugh about in the years ahead.

To say Marilyn was a die hard sports enthusiast is an understatement. She followed all sports, hockey, football, curling, tennis, and even a bit of MMA to our surprise. There wasn’t a sport that she didn’t like, although she drew the line at watching darts. Her true passion was the love she had for her Oilers. She enjoyed watching them play and had fond memories of attended their games back in the glory days with Gloria.

She also had a love for the ocean. Her happy place was on her boat, deep sea fishing. Her excitement and joy came from sharing these experiences with friends, family and charter guests. Her longing was to one day return to the west coast, unfortunately her health presented significant challenges.

Marilyn’s wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest beside her parents, Mary and Marvin Rombough; brother, Charlie; and sister, Margery at the Merna United Church near the family homestead, in the spring.

In memory of Marilyn, donations may be made to the Compassion House Foundation, or the local youth sports association of your choosing.

Marilyn showed great fortitude in her ongoing health battle and endured adversity with courage, strength and grace. May she rest in eternal peace.
Love you Mama Bear.
