Marie Georgina Young (nee Shaw)

1929 ~ 2021

Marie was born in Edmonton, Alberta on October 4, 1929 and passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on September 22, 2021 at the age of 91 years.

Marie was raised in the Ohaton, Alberta area. She graduated high school in Camrose, Alberta in 1947.
In 1950, Marie married Alex Young and together they raised their children in Edmonton. In 1985, Marie and Alex entered their retirement and moved full time to Ma-Me-O Beach.

Marie loved to sing, and sang often for her family, as well as in church. She was a lifetime Lady of the Order of the Royal Purple, and a founding member of Ma-Me-O Sunsetters Seniors. She loved spending time playing cards, Scrabble, painting and doing crossword puzzles.

She will be forever remembered and truly missed by her loving family; sister, Elaine Rawe; sons, Rob (Kerry) Young and Don (Diane) Young; daughter, Leanne (Jim) Palmer; grandchildren, Matt, Alana, Nick, Brett and Stephen; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Alex Young; parents, Tom and Bertha Shaw; brothers, Maurice and Tom Shaw Jr. and by her sister, Claire LeJambe.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family service was held at Lakedell Community Cemetery.
