Mable Glaser Obituary

Mable Louise Glaser

October 20, 1926 - January 6, 2020

After a long, fun and amazing  life of 93 years, Mable (nee Rasmuson) Glaser peacefully departed  us at the Wetaskiwin hospital with family at her side. Mable was born on the farm in Gwynne , Alberta Oct 20, 1926. Her first love was farming and she spent a lifetime enjoying her passion. Among other loves were her birds, gardening (flowers and veggies), trees, playing cards, coffee with friends and family and her community involvement at Central hall as well as many events in Gwynne.  Among numerous accomplishments were a national award representing Junior Farmers Young People which brought her to Scotland to exchange ideas on farming and agriculture, basic military training and posting to London, Ontario during W.W. II  (where she received many marriage proposals from the Australian lads), a long time member of Wetaskiwin Legion Branch # 86, a course at Yale University in the study of alcoholism, an offer to become Dean of Women at the Vermillion School of Agriculture, becoming the first women to sit on the board of the Wetaskiwin CO-OP as well as running a country vacation bed-and-breakfast with guests from as far as Greece and Japan.  Mable is lovingly remembered by her three children, Margaret (Curtis) Shell, Barb (Wayne) Westendorf, Grant Glaser; her three grandsons whom she adored and were ‘perfect’, Forrest, Parker and  Mason (Syd Poliquin) Shell . She was predeceased by her husband Arthur K Glaser in March 1988 and a sister, Florence Soch. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 11th, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Baker Funeral Chapel, 5302 50 Ave. Wetaskiwin, Alberta. In memory of Mable, donations to the charity of a donor's choice are gratefully accepted. Huge thanks to Peace Hills Lodge for making mom's send home almost as good as her first.
