Sadly, we announce that Luellyn Grace White passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 28, 2025. She was born in Ponoka on November 27, 1959 to parents Grace and Wilfred White.
As the story goes, Lue was in a bit of a rush to come into the world and was nearly born in the back of a taxicab. The local papers stated she was but our mother told us that-thankfully-they made it to the hospital just in time. Luellyn was always a very quiet girl , growing up in a large family. She took her education in Ponoka. She had an artistic side and loved to draw and paint. Occasionally she painted a few shop windows for the annual stampede celebrations. Lue worked in several retail stores over the years. She was a fantastic cook and loved to bake. She loved to decorate for the all the holidays, especially Halloween.
One day, Lue met a fellow by the name of Barry Skrodolis and sparks flew. We liked to tease her that she finally met her movie star heart-throb. A Mel Gibson look-a-like. Together they shared the next 30 years. Luellyn had no children of her own but she had the privilege of spending some time with Barry’s sons, Wade and Kyle. They loved to visit Barry’s parents in B.C. for some great fishing and the beautiful outdoors. Unfortunately, after Barry’s unexpected passing in August 2022, Lue’s health declined dramatically. Lue missed Barry very much. Uniquely, they even shared the same birthday, November 27. May they remain together as one 'spirit in the sky' for all eternity. That was Lues favorite song. We love you Lulu; rest in peace.
Lue was predeceased by her significant other, Barry; both of her parents; and four brothers, Wayne, Bradley, Johnny and Randy. She is survived by her sisters Jill Byers, Myrna (Jim) Smith, and Bev White; brothers Roger White and Robert (Deb) White; also numerous nieces, nephews, friends and several special friends. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to any charity of your choice. Thank you everyone.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
