Lois Anderson went to be with her Lord on March 31, 2026 in Ponoka, AB. She was born on March 11, 1954. She grew up on a farm in Luseland, SK to her loving parents Walter and Mary Scholer. Her childhood was filled with hard work and laughter, and she cherished the friendship and bond she shared with her three brothers.
Lois met Ernie in Prince Albert, SK and they got married in 1981 and moved to Edmonton, AB. Lois found rich friendships in her work at the Bank of Montreal as well in her neighbourhood. In 1984, Lois and Ernie welcomed their son Michael into the world, and it was a joy to be surrounded by such a supportive and loving community in those early years of parenthood.
In 1991, Ernie followed a job opportunity in Ponoka, AB. Lois was able to continue working with the Bank of Montreal in Lacombe, AB and worked there until she retired. She talked of her work and friendships there with fondness. Though she resisted the move at first, she grew to fall in love with Ponoka and the people (and their animals) in it. After her retirement, you would find her on the trail by the river once or even twice a day, walking her dog, chatting with her friends, and stopping to pet any furry passerby.
When Ernie passed away suddenly at the end of 2014, she deeply mourned his loss. In the few years following, she took on Ernie’s property management business with grace and competence, but was extremely thankful when she was able to retire once again!
Lois’ faith in Jesus was central to her life. She would often share about the spiritual conversations she would have with her walking friends and what she was praying about. She was an involved member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and treasured the community she found there.
Lois was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her hospitable spirit and quick wit brought light and laughter into any room. Lois was predeceased by her husband Ernie; her brother Ken; her mother Mary; and her father Walter. She is survived by her son Michael (Leanne); her brothers Lorne (Linda) and Gene (Sheryl); her granddaughters Audrey, Sylvia, and Isabelle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
For those who wish to see Lois prior to the service date, there will be a visitation held at Ponoka Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026.
A Funeral Service will be held for Lois at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Ponoka Trinity Lutheran Church.
