Lionel Udenberg Obituary

It is with great sadness and love we say goodbye to a wonderful loving husband, father, and grandfather, Lionel Leroy Udenberg.
Lionel was the son of Hjalmar and Laura Udenberg and was born in Hillhead, SD, USA. Lionel was predeceased by brothers, Alfred and Andrew; sisters, Lucille and Geraldine.
He married Ruby Lainchbury November 20, 1946. They had 3 children, Donna, Terill and Valerie. Ruby and Lionel had 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.
Lionel served in the US Army Air Force during WW2 at the age of 18. He returned and married Ruby, where they farmed in Gwynne, AB. Lionel went back to school and worked as a teacher at Crooked Lake Community School. Lionel worked for Imperial Oil as a battery operator while farming. Imperial Oil transferred him to Blackfalds and Red Deer. Lionel returned to teaching in a number of communities around the Wetaskiwin area. Lionel and Ruby bought a general store at Fort Assiniboine and they started an apiary while farming on an acreage while there. He and Ruby then moved to Grand Forks, Osoyoos, and Cranbrook, BC. They returned to Wetaskiwin where they truly called home.
Lionel and Ruby travelled to Tunisia, Italy, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and they frequently vacationed in many locations in the United States and Canada visiting family and friends. Lionel loved fishing, boating and gardening. He enjoyed studying world geography, engaging in politics and sharing stories or priceless jokes with those who would visit.

Lionel's wishes were for a small family gathering at the Crooked Lake cemetery, which will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
