Lawrence Johnson Obituary

Lawrence Ansley Johnson

March 21, 1936 ~ May 20, 2021

Lawrence Ansley Johnson, loyal father, grandfather and brother, passed away May 20, 2021, at the age of 85 within the comfort of his own home in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

Lawrence was born and raised on a farm within the county of Wetaskiwin to John and Lily Johnson with four other siblings, where he later raised a family of his own with previous wife Nellie. He spent his time growing grain, managing a dairy barn as well as raising cattle, horses and pigs. One of his favourite things he enjoyed doing was picking fresh produce from the garden especially corn on the cob, strawberries and raspberries. He loved nothing more than a big bowl of ice cream with fresh fruit. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting with his dad as a hobby, and later taught his son this skill. In the course of time, he was a dedicated grandfather to his loving grandchildren and treasured all time spent with family and friends.

He leaves behind his three children, Debbie (Greg), Doug (Laurie), Brenda; his five grandchildren, Megan, Chase (Keisha), Raelene, Kayla and Trinda; brother Gordon and sister Glennie. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Leona, his brother Wesley and his son-in-law Leo. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who love him.

Due to the current restrictions placed on public gatherings, a private family service will take place, with interment at New Sweden Mission Church Cemetery.

We knew so little that morning, that God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.
For part of us were with you, the day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you, you are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
