On January 11, 2023, at the age of 88, Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Dubitz passed away at the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre.
Larry was born on July 4, 1934 at home in the Manfred District. After graduating High School out of Red Deer St. Joseph’s Covenant, he completed 3 years of summer school at the University of Alberta. His first teaching position was at Norel in a one room school grades 1-9. He was there for 1 year and then moved to Castor where he taught at Theresetta Catholic School for the 40+ years until retirement. He returned to the farm where he enjoyed gardening, bird watching, visiting neighbours, and researching family histories.
Larry is survived by his siblings Donald, Sharon, and Rita (Barry) Stotts; nieces and nephews Stephanie Dubitz and her son Jesse and family, Dean’s children Taylor and Kirsten, Deborah Dubitz and her son Ethan, Leon Dubitz (Amanda) and her family, Ashley (Bree) Stotts and children Linus and Molly, and Garth (Rebecca) Stotts and children Gwen and Eleanor.
He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Frances Dubitz and his nephew Dean Dubitz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Bashaw at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. The Interment Service will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
