Kristie Vinet Obituary

Kristie Allecia Vinet

December 26, 1981 – March 28, 2021

It is with heavy hearts and heavy souls that we say goodbye to our dearest Kristie.

On Sunday, March 28, 2021, Kristie passed away peacefully at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto with her family at her side after a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer.

Kristie was intelligent, focused, artistic, and driven.  She used these traits to create her own successful freelance business and take on an astonishing variety of ventures over the years.  She was a small-town girl from Wetaskiwin that loved to travel the world.  To Kristie, no mountain was too high and no adventure too big.

To say Kristie was loved by many would be a huge understatement.  If you met Kristie just once, you know what the world is now missing.

Very few individuals have the special gift and ability to truly connect with people when they first meet. Kristie was one of those people, and the world is forever dimmer without her sunshine.

She was always the first to offer her help.  To family, friends, strangers, businesses, and just about anyone she could.  Her door was always open, and her couch always free to anyone in need.

Her smile lit up any room that she walked into.  The compassion, dignity, generosity, energy, and love with which Kristie lived her life made her truly one of a kind. Those whose lives Kristie touched won’t be the same without her.

To our beloved Kristie, you will be missed more than you will ever know.

Kristie leaves to mourn her mother Pat (Clarence), sister Trina, brother JJ (Kim), Grandmother Etta Vinet, four-legged love of her life Chico, countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.

Kristie was predeceased by her father Alan Vinet, grandparents John Zalasky, Mary Zalasky, Mac Vinet, and cousin Graden Vinet.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private family funeral will be held on April 7, 2021, at 1:00PM MST.  To view the service online, please use the link pasted below on the day and time of the service.

When Covid restrictions are lifted, celebrations of life for Kristie will be held in both Alberta and Ontario.

Kristie’s family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at the Toronto Western Hospital, Mount Sinai, the Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre, and the Princess Margaret Hospital for the dignity and respect with which they treated and cared for Kristie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kristie’s name to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in support of the Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre or to the charity of your choice.

Please let the light that Kristie possessed continue to shine bright through you. In her honour, please live your life to the fullest and treat others with the love, kindness, and generosity that Kristie would have.
