Kenneth Proud Obituary

Kenneth Dean Proud, beloved husband of Dolores Proud, of Lacombe passed away at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on August 14, 2018 at the age of 89 years.  Ken was born on September 1, 1928 in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Dolores and their children Bruce (Annelyn), Douglas (Terri), Rick, Linda (Roger), and Karlene (Brent), 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.  Ken is also survived by his brother Ted (Dorothy).  He was predeceased by his parents Art and May Proud.

The sweet grass country of Foremost, Alberta was where he was raised on a farm.  Ken went to a one room school and left home at the tender age of 14 to attend Canadian Junior College in Lacombe, Alberta.  In the spring of his grade 12 year, he decided to go farming - a dream and passion.

In 1952 Ken returned to the College for the one and only Agricultural course they offered.  It was during that time that Ken fell in love with Dolores and he decided “this is the girl for me” and she wasn’t going to get away to another college.  After a short engagement, they married on November 5, 1952 and together they farmed in the Foremost area and raised many crops and children - their love and passion.

Together they had many adventures travelling the world - spending 33 years in Mesa, Arizona.  They were always devoted to helping Christian Education.

Ken will always be remembered for his generous spirit, a cheerful heart, hard work, and his love for God, the farm, and his family and friends.  We were all blessed to have him in our lives and his presence will be deeply missed every day.

A Funeral Service to Celebrate Ken’s Life and Faith will be held at the College Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lacombe at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2018.  A Memorial Reception will follow at the College Heights Christian School Gymnasium.  The family will lay Ken to rest in the Fairview Cemetery in Lacombe later that day.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s name are gratefully accepted to Parkview Adventist Academy.
