Kenneth William Kolody
March 28, 1935 - March 25, 2026
Ken Kolody was born on March 28, 1935, in Wetaskiwin and lived his entire life in Falun. Ken grew up on the family farm with his parents, William and Nellie, and sister Florence. He helped take care of many animals over the years that were on the farm: cows, pigs, goats, ducks, horses, and chickens.
Ken married Edith in 1964, and 2 years later, they started their family. Dean, Bonnie, Connie, and Bruce would complete the family of six. Over the years on the farm, they had dairy cows, beef cows, pigs, and chickens. Summers were making hay, and the fall was harvesting barley and oats. As the years went by, Ken would sell the dairy cows (1994), and the pigs went a few years later. Then it was just the beef cattle, with the last of them being sold in 2024. Ken was dedicated to Fletcher Community Hall, as it was his mother's school and his school as a kid, and he helped turn it into a local community hall, serving as its president many times over. Ken enjoyed having a coffee or drink with a neighbour, and always had treats for his grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his children, Dean (Joellyn), Bonnie (Shane), Connie (Jeff), and Bruce (Sheylan); grandchildren, Emily, Colmer, William, Justin (Samantha), Amanda (Mike), Samantha (Jonathan), Benjamin, Katelyn, Jonathan, Bryden, Everett, and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Lily, Arianna, Carter, Payton, Colt, and Westyn; brother-in-law, Alfred; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Edith; parents, William and Nellie Kolody; sister, Florence (Oscar; George); parents-in-law, Gustav and Ottilie Schachtschneider; brothers-in-law, Bernie (Helen), Harvey (Donna), Herb (Shirley), Walter, and infant Arthur; sisters-in-law, Hilda (Emil), Mary (Arthur) and Adele (Bert); niece, Jacqueline Buskas; and nephew, Darren Buskas.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 30, 2026, at Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin, with Deb Lentz officiating.
