Kathleen Barbara (East) Andersen

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen “Kathy” Barbara Andersen, on June 10, 2025 in Ponoka, Alberta, at the age of 72 years. She was born on February 18, 1953 in Calgary, Alberta.

Kathy was known for her dedication to her work and her unique personality. She was profoundly proud of her father's service to his country and felt honored to volunteer at the Ponoka Legion. 

Kathy worked as a meter reader for TransAlta Utilities and as a cell guard with the Ponoka RCMP for many years. She enjoyed woodworking, crafting, and volunteering. Kathy loved to socialize and had a distinct sense of humor. She will be missed by many.

Kathy is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Norma Pearl Andersen and William “Will” Lyng Andersen; along with her brothers Dean Lyng Andersen and Allen Lyng Andersen.

We would like to thank the staff at Rimoka Foundation, FCSS, Dr. Sawisky, and Greg and the staff at Rexall for their continued kindness and support.

An informal gathering celebrating Kathy’s life will be held at a later date, to socialize and reminisce.
