John Herbert Stretch

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, John Herbert Stretch was called home by our Lord at the age of 87 years.  He is lovingly remembered by his children Chris Hahn (Terry), Diane Fair (Floyd), Sonya McClelland and Randy (Angela); 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years Margaret; parents Floyd and Amy Stretch; parents-in-law John and Anna Lauer; brother Arnold Stretch; sisters Marjorie Dewhirst Maser and Eleanor Jean Hoedl; and son-in-law Dwayne McClelland.

Born in Ponoka, John lived his life on the family farm just east of Ponoka and retired into in the town of Ponoka in 2017.  There are many fond memories of camping trips, bicycle and scooter rides, water fights and ice cream treats. He was a kind and gentle soul respected by all and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Prayers will be held at Ponoka Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.  The Interment Service will follow at Forest Home Cemetery.
