JOHN CLAYTON HARTLEY, 79, of Wetaskiwin Alberta, passed away May 17, 2020 In Edmonton, with his daughters close by. He was born to parents Donald and May Hartley, on February 10, 1941 in Hespero, Alberta on the family farm. He was called Jack by many people of the area.
He was married to Doris Bardell in 1972. John is predeceased by his wife Doris, his sister Donna Williams, and his parents Donald and May Hartley. John is survived by his daughters Dani Zubkowski (Mark), Odell Williams (David), his three grandchildren, KJ (Kenneth John) Striker, Josef Zubkowski (April), Ashley Zubkowski, several nieces and nephews, and his many friends in the aviation world.
John had a love for airplanes and became an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. He worked in Fort St. John in his own airplane maintenance company along with Gordon Wells. Then he moved his family to Wetaskiwin in 1973 and started working at Wetaskiwin Air Services until his retirement in 2011. John also loved motorcycles starting with his BSA and finally his Honda that he loved riding until 2017. John saw a lot of Canada and the United States through work. John and Doris had a love for the Peace country, he was very knowledgeable of the North. He was known for his own unique viewpoint of the world with his own expressions as well as a great love for animals. John was a private, loving, and no-nonsense kind of guy. He will be missed by those who knew him. Due to COVID the family is having a private memorial.
