The family of Joan Annable wish to announce the passing of their beloved matriarch on November 5th at the age of 79.
A treasured wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bruce Annable; daughters Carrie (Kevin) and Susan (Doug); grandchildren Samuel (Samantha), Erica (Derek), Logan (Andrea), Brett (Aleta), and Tyler; and great grandchildren Rhett and Louise. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Helen Badrock.
Joan was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1944, but grew up in Macklin, Saskatchewan, where she enjoyed many family hunting trips, and outings to Macklin Lake. Her parents bought the Valley Hotel in Red Deer, Alberta where she happily spent her teen years making frequent trips to their cabin at Sylvan Lake. It was at the hotel where she met the love of her life, Bruce, who whisked her all over the province, finally settling in Consort, Alberta where they raised their beautiful family together.
In her later years Joan and Bruce spent their time golfing in Bashaw in the summer, and Arizona and California in the winter. When she wasn’t on the golf course she could be found spoiling her grandchildren - whom all have special memories of quality time with "Grama" in their hearts.
She finally settled in Sherwood Park, Alberta so she could be closer to her grandchildren, and cheer them on at all their sports games and meets. She was the loudest in the stands and their biggest fan!
We would like to extend an endlessly gracious thank-you to the staff at Laurier House for their impeccable compassion and standard of care.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Bashaw Community Centre at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023.
Memorial Donations in Joan's name may be made to Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
