Norman James “Jim” Holt of Bashaw passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the age of 81 years. Jim was born in Calgary on September 7, 1944 to Norman and Jeanette Holt.
Jim lived his whole life in Bashaw. He married Chloe Deans of Countess, Alberta on September 28, 1964 after Chloe arrived in Bashaw to work at the Bashaw General Hospital.
Dad enjoyed playing hockey, boat racing, stock car racing, snowmobile racing, curling, golfing, water skiing, hunting, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and loved the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Later on in life, he enjoyed spending time on the farm.
Jim served on the Bashaw Fire Department for 45 years and was a member of the Legion and Elks of Bashaw.
Jim enjoyed his regular coffee group every morning: Vince, Marty, Reg, Russel, and of course his 3 sons.
Jim is survived by his wife Chloe; daughter Leanne and grandchildren Tessa (Dan) and Alec; son Robin (Jackie) and grandchildren Ashley, Karley (Chad), Nicholas, and Jessyka (Stephen); son Curtis (Leanne) and grandchildren Ethan (Nadja) and Quinnlyn; son Stanley (Tracy) and grandchildren Brookelyn and Paisley; seven great-grandchildren; and nephews Kary (Terryll) and Terry.
Jim was predeceased by his son Darren; parents Norman and Jeanette; sister Norma and brother-in-law Al Wright; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and in-laws.
A Private Family Graveside Service is being held at the Bashaw Cemetery.
