Janet Margaret Borzel (nee Balkwill)

Janet was born in Vancouver on October 25, 1948, the fourth of six children born to Robert and Agnes Balkwill. She graduated from high school in Alberta and went on to obtain a Diploma in Theology from Northwest Bible College in Edmonton. There she met Henry Borzel, whom she married in 1968.

In 1969, Janet began 55 years of Christian ministry with her husband. They served in Pincher Creek, Toronto, Innisfail, Westlock, Hong Kong, Edmonton, Macau, Victoria, and Vancouver, before returning to Asia. After a second stint in Vancouver, Janet and Henry retired to Winfield, Alberta. They continued in part-time ministry, primarily in Berrymoor and Drayton Valley.

Janet passed into the presence of her Lord on June 2, 2026, after two years in hospital and long-term care in Rimbey. She is survived by her loving husband, Henry, her son, Roland (Esther), three grandchildren, Eythan, Jonathan (Madeline), and Mateo, two step-grandchildren, Jordan (Kim) and Ashley, two great grandchildren, Lewis and Otto, four siblings, Ken, Keith, Wendy, and Lynn, and their spouses, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela, her parents, and one older brother, David.
