Jim Collinge
February 7th, 1948 – March 4th, 2025
James aka Jim Collinge passed away on March 4th, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 77 years.
Jim Collinge was born on February 7th, 1948, in Brandon, Manitoba. Jim and his family moved frequently throughout his childhood as his father was a teacher. Jim loved it when he and his family lived in Evansburg because he would always visit his neighbors, the Ostentag Boys, and he loved watching Lost in Space every Friday at his neighbors’ home. When Jim was in first grade, he and his family moved to Dimsdale, Alberta, where he and his brother Bert attended The Lucky Tree school which at the time only had one room. In 1973, Jim took a Horticulture Course in Olds, Alberta, and successfully passed the course. In 1974 Jim moved to Camrose, Alberta, where he made glasses lenses. Later that year, Jim began working at the Charlie Killam Elementary School as a janitor and he worked there for the next four and a half years. Jim then began working at The Sprout House Place in Camrose. He worked there for 19 and a half years. In 2005, Jim began working at Smitty’s washing dishes for seven and a half years.
Jim loved hiking and appreciating nature and going on trips through the mountains in Jasper because he loved seeing God’s beauty in nature. He also loved riding his bike in the summer and tobogganing in the winter. Jim was an avid fan of hockey, and he loved a good scrimmage. Jim enjoyed developing dark room black and white pictures as well as taking photography by correspondence.
Jim will be leaving the ones he loved dearly, his daughters, Mary-Anne and Angela Collinge and his brother, Bert Collinge. Jim was predeceased by his father, Bill Collinge and mother, Agnes Collinge (nee Henry).
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church (4910 Northmount Drive, Wetaskiwin).
