Jacqueline Cunningham Obituary

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Quast) Cunningham of Ponoka. She passed on February 16, 2023 at the age of 68 after a short battle with cancer. Jacquie had a generous and loving spirit which touched so many lives, going above and beyond for those she loved. Our beloved mother, sister, partner, and aunt was caring, loving, and had a contagious laugh and smile that could light up a room. Her presence will truly never be forgotten.

She was born to Pearl (Torvinen) Quast and Donald Peterson on July 23, 1954. She grew up in Usona with her younger siblings Kathleen and Kevin whom she loved so dearly. She attended Falun School and Pigeon Lake Regional High School before graduating in 1973. In October of 1973, she started at the Alberta Hospital Ponoka (Centennial Center) as an Institutional Aide. She graduated as an RN in 1984 and worked in a role she was so proud of until 2007. Nursing was her true passion, she gladly shared stories from years gone by and held her cherished coworkers and patients dearly in her heart until her final days.

Her children Chandra and Chelsi were her pride and joy. She was blessed to have met her soulmate Dwight Underwood and to have experienced love and life with him for years; she was taken from her love story far too soon.

Jacquie loved keeping busy and creating memories with family and loved ones. Whether it was enjoying laughs and Diet Cokes on a road trip, scrapbooking with new and old friends alike, using her artistic soul to create, or travelling to take pictures and find new adventures, Jacquie lived a memorable life full of love and light. After growing up on the farm, Jacquie loved to travel and take others to explore places with her. Few things made her happier than being able to help someone experience something new and helping them find new found joy. Pieces of her heart will always be in BC, Disneyland, and Oregon, and her memory will live on with all of the amazing and lovely friends she made in those places.

She will be deeply missed by her partner Dwight; her daughters Chandra and Chelsi; her sister Kathleen (Wade) Adcock; her niece Michelle (Spencer) Zelinka, great nephew Kevin Zelinka; her nephew Michael Adcock, great niece and nephew Brinnley and Mason Adcock; along with many extended family members, friends, and friends who became family. Jacquie was predeceased by her mother Pearl Quast; father Don Peterson; and brother Kevin Quast.
