J.R. Lee

Joseph Ronald Lee was born on January 25, 1951 in the County of York, Ontario and came to Ponoka in 1979 from Alliston, Ontario.  J.R. met Betty in 1980 and they were married on August 14, 1981.  J.R. opened an upholstery shop in September of 1981 and was in business for 44 years.  He was an avid gun and archery enthusiast, but most of all, he loved cats and rescued any one that came to the door.  J.R. also did leatherwork and dearly loved his 1953 GMC.

J.R. passed away on October 10, 2025 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre at the age of 74 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Betty; and children Heather and Cheryl.  J.R. is also survived by Moon and Cheryl Black as well as many other family members and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents Kathleen and Ivan Lee; as well as his brother Ted and his sister Marie.

A Private Service will be held.

In lieu of flowers (they are bad for his cats), donations are gratefully accepted to Old MacDonald Kennels.
