SNIDER, Irven C.
1942-2026
Irven C. Snider, a man who lived by the “cowboy way” and held a deep devotion to his family, passed away on March 16, 2026.
Born on February 1, 1942, in the rural area of Sebright, near Orillia, Ontario, Irven was one of many children born to Muriel and Herman Snider. It was in Ontario where he married his beloved wife, Gloria and began their journey together.
In the late 1970's, Irven moved his family west to the Fairview, Alberta area, later settling in the Crestomere, Alberta area to raise their children. During these years, He fully embraced the cowboy lifestyle, raising cattle and instilling a love for the land in his family. Apon retirement, he moved to Winfield, Alberta, where he set aside the work of ranching to focus on the things he loved most: riding horses, hunting, camping and fishing. He was an outdoorsman through and through, enjoying these passions even more during his golden years.
Above all, Irven was a loving grandfather who cherished every moment spent with younger generations. He was the happiest sitting by a roaring campfire and truly loved the big family meals where everyone gathered together. In his later years, he was blessed with the compassionate care of Iris and Herb MacDonald and their daughter Karen (Gil). For the past two years, he found great comfort and joy living with his son Dave and daughter in law Nancy.
Irven is now reunited with his wife, Gloria; his son, Irven Paul Snider; his parents; and his siblings, Nettie, Roy, Joe, Dan, Jim, Ive, and Mae (Glenn) White.
His legacy lives on through his children, Diane (Neil) Handford, Kathy (Terry) Whitfield and Dave (Nancy) Snider. He was a proud grandfather to, Tresa, Angelina, Michael, Jason, Nick and Rebecca, and a loving great- grandfather. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings, Terry (Ida) Wilkinson, Bert Snider and Herb (Wanda) Snider; along with his many nieces and nephews.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
he leadeth me beside still waters.
He restoreth my soul....
Psalm 23
Happy trails, Irven. You’ve earned your rest under the big Alberta sky.
Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2026, with a date and location to be announced.
