Irma Lentz (nee Gatzke) was born in Poland in 1938 and immigrated to Canada after World War 2. She moved to the Pipestone area with her mom and attended Pipestone school.
She worked at the Alberta Hospital Ponoka after graduation until she met Bernard. After getting married they farmed in the Arbour Park District in the County of Ponoka until they moved to the outskirts of town in 1996. Irma worked at the Wetaskiwin General Hospital, followed by the Alberta Hospital Ponoka in the laundry/sewing departments. Bernard and Irma loved travelling, hosting parties, family, and friends.
Irma is survived by her daughter Barbara (Paul) Scott and grandson Emerson (Candace) Scott; daughter Lorna (Mark) Shannon, granddaughter Larissa Shannon and grandson Jalen Shannon; sisters-in-law Elsie Duffy and Edna Hettler; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Irma was predeceased by her husband Bernard Lentz on October 8, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Irma’s name may be made to the Ponoka Wheelchair Van Society or the Ponoka FCSS Cancer Fund.
