Hubert Hollies Obituary

Hubert or “Bob” as he was known by his family, was born in Verdun, Quebec on December 31, 1931.  Verdun is now part of Montreal.

His full name is Hubert Louis Hollies.  His father’s name was also Hubert.  Hubert’s mother was Gladys Hollies (nee Roberts).

Hubert was the third of four children.  Gladys was the oldest sister, then Rose, Hubert and Mary.  Gladys passed away about 20 years ago.  Rose, who was Rose Syskowski, then Rose Cook, passed away in 2019.

Hubert served in the Canadian Armed Forces and saw action in Korea.

He married Anne McCabe on October 22, 1957.  Their son Robert “Mark” Hollies was born October 17, 1959.

Hubert started having psychotic episodes shortly after Mark was born.  He was in and out of psychiatric hospitals for several years before being committed to the Centennial Centre in 1974.

Shortly after he was committed, Anne divorced him.  For a few years he was a ward of the office of the public guardian and trustee.  When Mark became legal age he applied to become his father’s guardian.  The office of the public guardian and trustee remained as trustee.

Mark passed away in 2012.  He named Randy as executor of his estate.  Randy took over as guardian of both his mother and father.

Anne passed away on January 17, 2021 after a covid outbreak went through her extended care facility.

Hubert “Bob” is lovingly remembered by his trusted friend Randy and his wife Deanne; and by his sister Mary.
